A KDF PvP Challenge

The April 11th Event is going to be the centerpiece, but it’s hitting during Cryptic’s “Delta Recruitment” drive.

And I want to do something MORE.

At each level attained by my Delta Recruit, (and whoever’s running with me when I get there) I will issue a challenge on Kdf Public Channel-a PvP challenge, for other new players at my level.  These will be for all five mission types:

Arena Ground, (at Level 10)

Arena Space (at Level 20)

Shantytown (Ground territory) (Level 30)

Capture and Hold (Level 40)

Shuttle (Level 50)

I have a crafting “mule” character. He loves to build purple-quality gear, and Superior Upgrade tokens.  The best of my opponents in these challenges will get something from me, as will their teammates, and my teammates.

This will happen over the course of the month, in-game and in-play.  Ranks will be rank-appropriate for each match.  The Ground arena will be MkII, the Space Arena Mark IV, Shantytown Mk VI,  C&H MkVIII, and Shuttle will be MkX.

The winners in each of these, will also receive a Superior Upgrade Token, crafted by me, In addition to their gear.   Winning teams in each match, will be listed on the blog here as they either fly with me to victory, or beat the everloving snot out of me and anyone foolish enough to fly my wing.

Now, that all said, I’d like to extend it to something like a full tournament, but I’ll have to talk to some of the fleet leadership out there.  Tentatively, it’s going to be called “Klingon Civil War” and will be running the full month, over the weekends.

Restrictions:

C-store or Leveling ships ONLY. No lockbox, Lobi, or Event vessels.

Alright, discuss below.

Looking to Delta Recruitment…

Hey folks, glad you could join me…

Cryptic’s “Delta Recruitment” event. That’s what Cryptic’s doing for April, and we need to be there in force.

the new “Delta Recruit’ Captains will have a mission at Level 30 (per the Dev Blog) to join a Fleet. We should do our utmost to make sure they’re joining a KDF fleet. This is the time for your mid-level and small fleets to be super-duper actively recruiting new blood.

It’s going to be hard, we’re going to need to encourage new players to roll KDF for Delta Recruitment, and we’ll need to work to convince new Romulans that they want to side with KDF, and not Federation. Continue reading

The March 14th Festival went off VERY well…

So we’re doing it again-next month, April 11, 2015.

This will be hitting during the first two weeks of the “Delta Recruitment” event, in which Cryptic’s giving new-generated characters special storyline and bonuses.

Which means that while the March Festival was mainly focused on established KDF and KDF/Romulan Alts, this one will be much more focused toward leveling new characters.

It’s a good thing we walked out of the March festival with more infrastructure than we started-we have a channel now, that isn’t tied to any specific Fleet (though thank you to those who offered the use of theirs for the event.)

“Kdf Public Channel”-was started just for us by an enterprising member of the community, and I’m told it will remain in operation for as long as people want to use it. Continue reading

Eight Days to Go.

I’ve gotten an idea or two that may pay off, and may not. don’t know yet.

First idea’s simply thus: soliciting some articles for the site, from players, and not even asking them to write the articles in English.

There are a lot of traits and features of this game, that people kind of…miss. Don’t use, don’t pay attention to, and there are things that were incorporated that don’t work right, or don’t get utilized because (drumroll) you don’t know they’re there.

The forums are a good source of information on the game mechanics of STO-sometimes they seem to be the only source.

but…those sources get buried in thread after thread of…stuff.

maybe we need to build a library of game resources HERE-resources that are particularly useful for KDF players.
even players that aren’t ‘native’ english speakers.

So I had an idea.  NOT sure if it’ll work or not, but maybe…just maybe.

Volunteering for The Festival!

getting inquiries into how to volunteer, and being as I DO have a day (well, night) job 40 hours a week (not including overtime), it could be tough to get ahold of me in-game before the event (especially if you live a normal 9-to-5 life, I start work at 1400 PST and get out at 2230 PST. 2 to 10:30 for folks who use a normal 12 hour clock).

So, there’s a few ways to work around this that don’t involve you staying up until all the wee hours of the morning.

1: Post here. I’m going to be checking daily.

2: PM me on the STO Forums. It’s not realtime, but I can usually get on them through the phone on breaks at work, and I always at least ‘look’ there when I get home.

3. In-game ‘mail’, send it to “K’ragh the Fool@Patrickngo” on the game itself. I’ll kick you a response.

4. Catch me when I’m actually playing. Weeknights the best times are well into the small hours of the morning-I sometimes don’t get on until around 2 AM Pacific time (12:00 GMT) during the week. I’m a little better during the week-end.
